Design

To retain the character of the existing facade whilst making a contemporary addition. 

Cariads Cottage is to be a family home for the owner who has lived on the farm all of her life. To create a ‘dream home’ from the old barns will allow the next generations to live and work in the locale.

A conservation approach to the existing barn, with a two storey extension in a contemporary barn style. A light lattice roof floats over the principal façade which turns into a gabled barn structure to the rear. A blend of profile metal cladding, and larch compliment the existing stonework.
